The Two Easiest Ways to Improve Your Facebook Ads "Score"

We photographers all get there eventually.


You decide that you want to marketing your fall minis or senior photo season, so you open up Facebook Ads Manager and...your eyes glaze over. WHAT AM I LOOKING AT!?


So there are a lot of awesome classes and workshops on running Facebook Ads, so I won't beat a dead horse here on that. However, I did want to address Facebook ads within the context of marketing for photographers like you.


There are lots of ways to optimize your ad, but in the end, Facebook prices your clicks/impressions based on its idea of your online reputation. Like isn't fair, but you have to play by their rules, right?


One of the easiest (and not often discussed) ways to improve your Facebook Ads "score" is to make sure your photography website (or whatever site you're wanting to move your ads customers) has a valid Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Most of us photographers think that we don't need these documents on our site, as they're long, nobody reads them, and we're not sure of their relevancy to our services/products. Or that legal stuff is just plain...scary.


However, you're not doing yourself any favors by ignoring these things. By putting a basic privacy policy and terms of service on your website, you're telling Facebook that you have your stuff together. That you have taken responsibility and actions to ensure the security of your (and Facebook's) users' information.


When you submit an ad to Facebook, someone or something reviews it to determine how they're going to charge you, and part of the process is checking your source site to make sure it's reputable.


Let's start a movement to pull the bandaid off this boring task and finally get it done!
